These are some of the things others have written about my work…

Phantom at Ruskin Gallery, Cambridge by Laurence Noga – Feb 2017
A project space called ‘I’ by David Minton – published in a-n Sept 2015
Experience as Collage by Dr Martin Golding – Sept 2015
Jane Boyer: Repetition ain’t what it used to be by Mark Sheerin – Oct 2014

Photography is a persistent reminder of the division between how our eyes see versus the way the lens sees. This places us in the uncomfortable position of asking which is the dream — our perceptions of the world or the world captured in the photographic image? This kind of philosophical question on seeing, and its implied world-making, attracts me to the photographic medium.

The moving image feels like the wandering mind to me. So my videos sit in the liminal space between reality and the dreamscape; between waking and drifting off into sleep where sound warps and fades. From this liminal space, this video asks what have we done to water and air?

Water and Air will be part of the upcoming exhibition, The Anxiety of Interdisciplinarity 2.0, coming to Art at the ARB at University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK from 25 September to 17 November 2023. Curated by Sarah Strachen and Ayesha Zolghadr.
